CAREing Paws is pleased to offer online reading sessions to eligible children during this time that we cannot be together in person at many of our schools or libraries. The mission of CAREing Paws Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) Teams is to improve the literacy skills of children through the assistance of nationally certified therapy animal-owner/handler teams as literacy mentors. CAREing Paws utilizes these therapy teams who volunteer to go to schools, libraries and many other settings as reading companions for children.

CAREing Paws is a registered affiliate R.E.A.D. group. We take pride in adhering to the principles of the R.E.A.D. program while offering online reading programs. Our volunteers take significant time in ensuring proper preparation for both themselves and their dog so that your child gets the benefit and extra reading practice that they so richly deserve. To that end, we ask that you honor your commitment to the CAREing Paws volunteer once your reading day and time are scheduled. If for any reason you are not able to attend, kindly provide 24 hours notice to the CAREing Paws volunteer.
